The Milton boy’s cross-country team traveled to Fayetteville, GA, and the Annual Georgia Meet of Champions for a postseason race against some of the state’s top programs.
Varsity Boys
The Eagles raced some of the top-state finishing teams from many different classes in one of the most competitive races of the season. Milton (6th-174 pts) held their own against Norcross (1st-110 pts), 5A State Champions Chestatee (2nd-129 pts), 2A State Runner-Up Pace Academy (3rd-136 pts) and 2A state champions Lovett (4th-137 pts) and 5A state runner-up Decatur (5th-153 pts). The Eagles defeated 13 scoring programs.
Individually, the Eagles were again led by senior Hayden Marshall (6th-15:38) in an all-time personal best performance. Marshall was never out of the lead group and contended for a top-3 overall finishing position. Fellow senior Jack Petkash (23rd-16:07) and Connor Brunson (41st-16:23) backed up Marshall’s performance and along with junior Dylan Bowden (80th-16:55) and sophomore Cory Chambers (96th-17:12) completed the scoring for Milton. Senior co-captain Lorin Tady (104th-17:24) and freshman Hixon Rumph (110th-17:30) contributed to the team’s top-6 placing. There were 153 finishers.
